Are you setting up a CO2 system? if you are gonna get that going immediately, then just see what the CO2 will do for the algae and leave the lights how they are.

If you are not gonna add CO2 til you buy a diffuser, then I would cut down the lights to be maybe 2wpg. See what that does. If your plants look sickly bump it up to 2.5. Just play around with it and see what works. Pay attention to algae growth, plant conditions, and new growth.

Yeah, making the caps for the yeast bottles id the hardest part of the whole DIY system. I used a hot glue gun b/c it was easier. The seal broke every couple of weeks and had to be resealed once the CO2 leaked. I think silicone is a good sealant, though i have not tried it.

Remember: Don't forget the check valve!
 
I will get the DIY Co2 system going. Since I don't have to use Seachem Excel I can use the money I will get for selling the Angle fish so buy the Co2 ladder, but I can only do that on Saturday. The plants will get here on Friday... Will that be ok. or do I need to get the Co2 system going on friday, the day the plants get here?
 
If you can only do it Saturday, then you can only do it Saturday. You don't have very "needy" plants, so they should be okay for a day w/o CO2.
 
Ok, and just to make sure. I just connect all the Co2 lines from the bottles and form them into 1, with conections, then put that onto the Co2 ladder? As of now, I only have 2 2liter bottles, but I will be able to get more. Do you think that 4-5-6 bottles will be enough to add a little Co2 to the tank?
 
That process sounds about right. I think 4 bottles should be enough. I had 2 bottles for my densely planted 40 gal.

All the plants arrived!! I think? The UPS guy said that there was another package??
Any way anyone know how to plant the bulb they sent me?? There is a red tube coming out one end... thinking that that should be pionting up??
 
Put everything into the tank! I mada 1 more Co2 chamber, so that puts me at 3!! Just one more!! I will be getting the Co2 ladder tomorrow I hope! I will be taking pictures as soon as I can find some FREAKEN Batterys in the house!!!
 
Got the bulb planted! Over night the leafs/tube thing doubled in size!!!!
 
Good! It is exciting when bulbs take off. I ordered some aponogeton ulvaceus a couple weeks ago and they are growing mad crazy fast.
