I don't care how many rocks one places in a tank with a 36 x 13" footprint, it's not enough room to hide or escape from a dominant fish, that has teeth, and knows how to use them.
I also understand how large each of the mbuna listed grow to, I've kept them all and have many years of experience with African cichlids, including countless species of mbuna. It was bad advice that hopefully the OP won't attempt. It's really not fair to the fish that are on the receiving end of constant harassment, or daily beat downs.
