And it's that arrogant attitude that has caused the extinction of many creatures.

Say whaa??? I am an avid conservationist and also care a great deal for animals, but that inself does not mean that I value the life of an Orca more than my daughter or son. Are you too arrogant to understand that?

Whale didn't ask to be held in captivity and forced to perform with humans.

Thats a completely different argument.. We're talking about the whale performing with people not whether or not it should be released

you sir are just ridiculous. Do you keep fish? How can you justify keeping fish with your outlook on subjects like these? They did not ASK you to put them in a glass box to be stared at now did they?

Either way, the animal's needs are to be taken care of. That means being fed and mentally stimulated. Animals that are conditioned to feed from human hands almost never go back to hunting or taking food any other way.

At some level, this animal now NEEDS humans to live.
Shows? Maybe not. But it needs interaction.

i think animals of this size should never be kept captive in the first place i mean, from the ocean to a small place they're kept in will make anyone go crazy and yet it's used to do silly tricks to entertain

of course it's not the animal's fault, but one life lost is one too many let alone 3 or whatever it is. this animal should never be in shows again and if it is a breeder then leave it alone and just breed it. it should just chill for the rest of it's life

i see it as a calculated risk no different then riding a motorcycle, surfing, deep sea diving etc etc. The people knew the potentional harm but decided the reward was worth it.

so i'm a lil torn. i don't think whales should be held captive but once it's done it's done, this whale should no longer be doing shows with human in the tank though. i'm just glad we didn't overreact and put it to sleep

They are not putting those other much smaller more fragile animals (Also known as humans) in the aquarium anymore. From what I have read it's just the whale doing the show.
