just wondering your opinions on the rena line of filters. i have an xp4 in my 120. how does that stack up to the competition

IDK how it stacks up to the competition, but I love my XP4. It's on my 125g. Very quiet, easy to clean, compact, well built... I've never heard a bad thing about them. When the time comes for more tanks, this is what I'm going to buy to filter them. Good thread.

I'm a big fan of the XP3. I don't think the XP4 is worth the extra money though. You just get an extra media basket but the about same actual flow as the XP3.

Bang for the buck. You don't get much real benefit from buying the XP4. It doesn't have a whole lot more flow and the extra media room is somewhat negligible.

Ahh, I see. I got mine for $190.00 shipped to my door. +/- 5 bucks. It was the one thing I couldn't justify buying at my LFS since it was $285.

The renas are a decent filter I have 2 xp3 both filtering 70g tanks.

Good catch, lol. I read about fx5's on here so much...

I'll keep that in mind. Thats the only thing about the XP4. Wish it had a bit more flow. An extra 100gph would be nice.
