He looks great. He must be so happy to have some room! I noticed you we're saying he's really bold and you were worried about possibly getting bit. My big catfish hand feed, and their feeding method is basically like turning on a big vacuum. Foods just literally sucked down the hatch. They've never ripped food away, but I also don't hold onto hard. I'm sure you could train this guy to gently hand feed.

Oh I'm hoping he'll hand feed. My logic tells me even if he bites me it won't hurt, it's just unnerving :p I've since let him check out my hands throoughly - he has the same process for anything new that goes in the tank - he checks it out with the long feelers then gets really up close and personal with his shorter more sensitive barbels near his mouth - that's all he wanted to do with my hand, no mistaking for food :p

Still hasn't eaten anything yet, which I'm OK with, as the tank is mini cycling as it adjusts to his massive bio load. Better he doesn't create any more pollution than necessary.

Do you have any idea what he was eating before? I hope he adjusts soon for you and starts eating like a pig.

Well supposedly he was eating frozen shrimp and prawns. I need to ask what kind though - I bought a bag from a local supermarket, but I have noticed in the past that my other fish will turn their nose up at different brands of market shrimp while having no problem with others. I tried again last night and he's definitely interested in the shrimp but he won't eat it. He could also just be stressed by the ammonia and nitrite in the water. I'm doing my best to keep it at minimum levels, but you gotta leave a little bit in the water or the filter will never cycle.

I had to laugh tonight. This guy gets less afraid of me every day. I'm doing daily waterchanges with a large pump, and I try to keep him away from the pump while I'm draining the tank - I don't want his whiskers getting injured by the pump suction. He wants no part of it though, I literally have to lean over the tank the whole time I'm draining it and wrestle with him to keep him away from the pump. Stubborn bugger wants to go check out what's going on in his tank. Me constantly moving him away does nothing to frighten him at all, just makes him try different tactics to get over there and see what's going on.

haha what a guy! I am so excited for both of you. I LOVE RESCUES!! Officially subscribed. Lots of updates and pics, especially when you get them in the 600 please!! :D

Nice:thumbsup:

Not much to update, although I finally saw 10ppm nitrates in the tank last night. Cycling is a pain! Not a moment too soon either, supposed to be -10C here in the next couple of days, so I can't be pouring 150gl water changes on the driveway for much longer.

He still will not accept shrimp, although he's snacked on the feeders that were in there before he arrived. I might try tilapia if I can find some here.

Snapped some pics tonight, he continues to grow more and more inquisitive. I had to change the water pump in the tank yesterday and he would NOT stay out of the way, just had to check out what was going on.
