Healty looking retic's you've got there Miles!

How big are they now?

They are only 4-5" if that.. Big Momma is really starting to put on some size though. Shes the one in most the pictures. It's really tough to tell when there isn't much to compare them to.. but from what I remember when they were in the 55g at the LFS, they have grown an maybe an inch in a few months?

I need to get a 2.1 trio of hystrix to combine with these guys..

Hystriculata ? Hystrixulata? Retix ? The super small affordable captive bred ray?

That little tiny ray you declined on is now in my tank and she is doing wonderful she has also grown a bunch Barbie calls her J. Lo she has a butt on her I feed her at least 3 times a days she loves to eat and right now she is going through 3 oz of black worms a week piggy. Have tried the red wigglers and she just snubbs her nose at them any suggestions on how to get her to eat them. The black worms are costing me a small fortune so I would like to get her to something else. My monthly feeding right now on her is at about $40 but she is fat and happy which is all that matters. Think I could put a second retic. in my 125 for a year or so? I am going to go to about a 700gal in a year or so we are waiting until we buy a new house with a bit bigger living room for a large tank. But I would love to get a buddy for her. Anyway your rays look beautiful and I am glad you turned down the tiny girl because now I get to enjoy her.

As far as weaning, I waited until the rays were eating well and put on some weight, then I starved em out for a few days and chopped up the red wigglers in with a TINY amount of black worms.. I did this for a few days, and they eventually started eating whole worms. I made sure they recognized me as food first and got excited when I went in the fish room. I would feed 3-4 worms in the morning, 3-4 worms on my break, and then 3-4 worms at night.. then right before bed I would feed blackworms. Now I am trying to rotate mussels, mysis and krill into the diet.. They take bloodworms but it makes a mess of the tank.

You could do a second retic I don't see why not.. You do your water changes, and just make sure no tank mates nip the eyes or disc of the ray..

700g ? Why not just built 5000g.. :) Glad to see you on MFK!

See ya 'round.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

I have been trying to get them to eat HBH Super-Soft Krill pellets, because of their tiny mouths.. I thought they were eating them because they were disappearing, and not 'fuzzing' up.. However, I saw some get soggy and float to the top, and I think they end up a brown mush in the sump, so I quit trying that.. Just going to wait until they get big enough for Hikari Massivore.
