Its a tiny creek maybe 1' wide x 1' at the deepest part. Its in the middle of a neighborhood. I just stick my net under the bank and swish it around to try to get all the fish to swim into the net. They like to hide in the roots hanging in the water. I catch about 5 every time I go. The creek is connected to a pond on one end. Every spring a bunch of juvinile fish swim up into the creek. I catch green sunfish, bluegill, bass and yellow bullhead. I would love to catch a juvinile channel cat.
sweet. i wish i could do that. the part of the creek that i fish at is about 30ft across and about 40 ft long until it turns into rapids we are not sure how deep it is but we guess its about 7ft in the middle but near the damn/collapsed cement wall it might be up to 10ft deep. we catch minnows/shiners, bluegill, green sunfish, largemouth bass, brown bullhead. ive seen an albino carp type fish about 8 inches long swim by. i wish there was somewhere to get smaller baby bullhead near here.
Theres a stream kinda like that at my grandparents house, except without the rapids and its about half as deep. I caught some green sunfish with a plastic worm but I didnt have any nets or anything.
nice. this creek near my house is one of the major creek in western omaha. we use live worm and hot dog to catch fish on hooks. when we use traps suprisingly if we put the meat from burger king into the trap we get bullhead. other cooked meat works too but there is a burger king just up the street so, why not use the leftovers to catch fish.
I've only ever used lures or live baitfish and worms. I fish in little retention ponds around my neighborhood. I just finished drawing out the frame of the trap. Its going to be 1'T x 3'W x 2'D useing 1/4" steel rods and 1/4" or 1/8" steel mesh. I'm also making a smaller one about half the size.
nice. if you build it i would like to know if it works. i might try to build something like that this summer. but for now i am planning how to make wooden fishing rod holders. ive made one that holds 4 rods and another one that holds a single rod. the snow here just needs to melt and the weather warm up here in order to test them out.
