hey guys ive after months and months of waiting just bought myself a rhom piranha hes 5 t 6 inch in size and very agg hes due to be delivered in the next few days my tank is running has been for over a year with various cichlids in it grammodes cubans and a flowerhorn still in there till rhom arrives and hell be put in with my tilapia my question is re flow rate i know rhoms to be slow growing but same said about the grammode and he grew just under an inch a month wich i find to be normal for most my fish i do big water changes twice a week upto 80% depending how dirty my warter is during the changes im not new to keeping fish just new to rhoms and im wondering about flow rate v growth the way i see it is the more the fish works swimming the hungrier they are the more they eat the more they grow is this right with rhoms ?? what flow rates have you guys had the biggest growth rates on i can upgrade to around 2000 lph if needed just dnt want to make my lil un work to hard in the wild they would in habit quite strong flowing water ? i can set up a river type tank with pipe work ect just want him to grow to his best as i can provide him and any excuse to play with my tanks lol diet will consist of tilapia/ convicts gut loaded with hikari cichled xl (my fave food for all the cichlids ive kept my grammode grew like hell on it with frozen blood worm mysis krill and raw frozen prawn salmon and red worm (night crawlers )etc very confidant growing cichlid tis is my first piranha any advice greatly appreciated many thanks mikey
 
Growth rate is way slower than your grammodes. If it's 5-6", it'll probably be a the 1" a year point by now.

They do like a lot of current, so if you can provide it go for it. Just give him a few spots where he can hide in dead spots in the current (driftwood etc).

Congrats on the pickup, be sure to post some pics when you get him in the tank. I'd recommend leaving the lights off and leaving him alone for the first few days to let him settle in.
 
ok thanks rampage the tank is dark i only have a 2ft 15w light black background and black gravel some plastic plants drift wood and some big smooth rocks ill have a play around with some pipes and try making a river manifold get some current going ill get some pics up of him soon as he settled i have 1 of him in a clay pot from the guy i getting him from ill have a go at posting it up in a min thanks again

cheers ger he looks much better in the flesh all sparkly, ill try to get some better pics when he stops hiding behind stuff in his tank, he been in just over 24 hours and ive only seen him swim 1ce lol hope he ll settle in soon
