Rio Tocantins kels Grow out

Man Ive done so many water changes that now when I stick my hand in the tank it doesn't even phase mine... They'll come right up to it. How often do you interact with them ? Water changes, walking by the tank, etc? Some kels will always be freak outs ... There's no way around it. Another thing is I don't give them any place to hide or try.

I do two to three water changes a week and walk by the tank dozen times a day it kind of divides my dining room and living room. i added a black background and increased photo period hope that helps. Next step is moving them all together.

I think this is one of my biggest issues. My tank has always been in the basement. I never come down Here during the winter. Except for feeding and maintenance. Summer I'm in and out here a lot. Hope that helps.

That is a possibility I would say. I constantly visit my fish which are all over my house. They always come up to the lid opening to see if I'm going to feed them. The only time any of my pbass are skittish is when I first get them.

I know my orino has parasites so my kels probably have them too. I'm about to get some meds tomorrow. I wonder if that's why there super skittish still. If that doesn't fix it then ill just have to deal with it and hope it gets better when they get monster.

Well after work came home to them acting much better after adding the back ground and increased photo period. They were waiting and begging for food when I walked up to the tank!

Thanks for the suggestions and help.

Well I did it again. Did a water change two nights ago and filled the water above the spray bar on my filter return. Week I got home from work last night and two of my little kels and two of my red heads were dead.
Did a water chem check everything was fine. The fish still alive were gasping for for air and all the MTS where it off the substrate heading to the surface.
My guess is a lack of oxygen killed them. Nothing else looked wrong. I put the spray bar back above the water line and now everything seems to be fine. My last kel and Geo even ate this morning. Anyone else had this problem. I'm starting to think I'm cursed.
Already placed an order to replace them. Starting to get very expensive . I ordered two more red heads and one kel and an azul. Last time I swear, haha

I have had this happen with a mono and amln Azul. They need more DO than I thought. I run air stones now as insurance.
