Well I got a call today that 3 of my fish have floated on to the bigger fish tank in the sky. My 8" GT and my m/f 8" Festae....:nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:

I came home today and did a test on the water, come to find Nitrates 5ppm, Ammonia barely .25ppm and Nitrites at .25ppm. How could this have happened? I don't understand how my healthy tank could have taken a turn for the worse. I did a 25% w/c yesterday, added Prime and everything was good. Also before the w/c I did a test and the only reading I got was Nitrate at 5ppm. Coming out of the tap, the water tests fine......

Well here are my three loses

Man I am sorry. Losing any of you're fish sux mightily.

You're water quality that you posted isn't detrimental. .25 Ammonia isn't going to harm anyone. 5ppm of Nitrate won't do jack, average is 12.5 and the Nitrite is the same as well.

How much are you feeding? Is the food old?

sorry for your loss. those are beasts...

how's the oscar doing?

That is what is bothering me, the params are not way out of wack. I just purchased some Massiovore from Drs Foster and Smith, and I only fed enough that each got about 3 pellets each. So it was a light feeding for them

Sorry for your losses :(

Thanks

MY GT died about a month ago. Everyone else was fine. Sometimes it just happens. I think sometimes stress from outside (or maybe inside) the tank can cause weird deaths like this. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for loss...not good to lose fish....
