River monsters predictions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wish he would put the "monster" idea aside for one episode and come to cape may and teach me how to catch a monster striper. But for real, the "man eaters" are well over with, it's time he focuses on fish who are monsters in their own right. Arowana, electric cats, maybe go on a search for a cichlid over 2' in the wild, giant puffer. But as previously stated, I'm sure we are in for at least 3 more shark episodes. Probably another sturgeon episode too. Russian beluga?

I love this show and all, but nothing beats the damn Turtle Man on tv. That dude would catch a 5 foot Goonch with his bare hands if you let him haha.

I would really like to see a few more interesting ideas vs the current direction of the show.

On another fishing show I saw some Americans catch a 6 feet Wels with their bare hands :D

the only time i saw him eat fish was when he had to. It was eat fish or eat nothing.

I've seen him eat it just like that.

He ate a p bass last episode. That being said most ichthyologist are effing connoisseurs on which fish taste the best. The one I work for talks about how great wild caught pacu's and p bass taste. He also told me of how they eat arowana, but using a special technique to cut out their bones.

They are immersed in local cultures, and most wouldn't turn down an opportunity from a tribe to eat as it is disrespectful, etc. One professor told me of a time when he was offered a shot made of seaturtle eggs and sugar cane moonshine at 7 am in the morning, and he had to take it at 7 am in the morning to be respectful of their offer. That's the kind of stuff wade runs into, and he isn't a snob. If you read his books he gets into some wild *****t.

I've never seen a piranha ie red belly or black but I've seen pacus and big ones I've seen guys catch them in the ever glades

I personally don't think pacu's or piranha will ever become established in Florida. Pacu's have a very specific and very timed way of breeding using the natural flow of the amazon to send their offspring downstream to a location where they are nursed (flooded forests). There is no ecosystem that mimics this is Florida even though other conditions here are in the range of tolerance. The same goes for piranha. They require large groups to breed, and there are no packs of piranha running around. Just individuals who have been released.

So, all of those little pacu that are sold in Petco and Petsmart are wild caught?
