Thank you. I've never kept oscars - sorry, never seen the appeal lol - so I can't compare the two. I will say that Rogue has been relatively tolerant of other CICHLIDS that he has shared space with, but once he got to about 5" or so he started taking out anything that wasn't another cichlid. He was originally housed in my 8ft long tank with my heterospila, at the time also had a cutteri, a rainbow, and a big school of congo tetras. He was the only fenestratus, added at about 2" in size. When he started killing the congos, I decided to pull him out. Since then I've tried him with a few other cichlids and he's been pretty indifferent to them - the cutteri moved with him, he's had his convict buddy for quite a while now, at one point there was three male convicts in with him, etc. Occasionally I see a slight chomp looking mark on Dozer's side (the convict) but mostly they get along well and Dozer has no fear of swimming near Rogue. But I tried adding a couple bristlenose plecos at one point thinking they'd be safe, and he wiped them out.
As for personality, he's pretty personable like most big CA cichlids. Rarely hides, always comes to say hi when I go near his tank, etc. No aggression to me AT ALL...I play it safe and try not to get my hands TOO close to him just out of habit, but tank cleaning is easy and he just ducks into his "den" and stays far away from my hands. No interest in attacking the python while it's in the tank, unlike Tolken (my midas) who tries to kill it.
