i dunno i dont see him as zidane or beckham. He's ok, to be honest i dont watch him enough. His finishing is lacking a bit, he misses a lot of golden opportunities, and when he plays for Man U i think he can be very very greedy, always tell hes going to shoot, not pass. Skillfull player, but id prefer him to use the skill in the big games more, and not against smaller teams. Like that amazing run of his which is in almost every video collection on youtube, but its against millwall.

Cristiano Ronaldo is an exceptional player in scintillating form, but to compare him to Ronaldinho is a bit of a stretch. Cristiano makes the most of his contributions from being a wing player and given excellent opportunities to work singly on wing backs and into space. His crossing is solid, but that's a bit like saying your eyesight is great as long as you are wearing glasses. IE he gets lots of crosses into the box, but his service can only be as good as the player finishing. Ronaldinho's work is in far more congested areas, and his vision allows his teammates to work into space for the pass. Both are great with the ball and are candidates for world footballer of the year, but Little Ronaldo (Ronaldinho) puts himself into the flow of the game, whereas Cristiano Ronaldo often has to wait for his teammates to get him involved.

As a Man City supporter, I cannot (in good stead) stand by and hear anything truly good about a Red Devil, so take my comparison with a grain of salt. Or: If I had to introduce someone who didn't give a crap about football to football, I'd take him first to a game with Ronaldinho. If they cannot appreciate that, they can't appreciate football at all.

Cristiano Ronaldo is absolutely a clinical finisher. He's tied for the league lead for goals in the Premiership with 13 goals. I'd say that's a pretty golden foot.

If you were to compare Ronaldo and Ronaldinho together, you would see that Cristiano is the more effective player.

Ronaldinho himself is a pretty incredible player but his play takes him from the midfield on up. IE, he does not defend, and when he does, he doesn't do it well. If you were to speak to frank rijkaard, he would tell you that Deco is the motor which pulls Barcelona forward, and not Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho is that offensive genius that gives his team an attacking edge, and that's all. Very far from the complete player.

Ronaldo has 13 goals, and 6 assists thus far. He's taken a different roll with United this year making wayyyyyyyyyyy fewer crosses. I think about 68 and about as many shots which is more than he took last year. He's basically the driving force for Man U, and I don't see another player on that team with the creative genius he has. A player which pushes the ball forward as much as he does. His position on the field is sometimes a gray area too. He's regarded as a winger, but he seems to play the wing, a second forward, and a #10 all at the same time.

Cristiano is only 21 years old. Was Ronaldinho as good as Cristiano at age 21? Probably not.

And I'm pretty biased myself, but I think Cristiano will be the best player in the world in the near future.

Two words: Ryan Giggs. There is no doubt Cristiano Ronaldo is having a monster season, and he undoubtedly defends the whole rectangle. True, Rondaldinho does not have much defensive presence, but he usually plays as a withdrawn striker with precious few defensive assignments. Cristiano Ronaldo still relies upon space to do his magic, and I quibble with the assignment of him as a 10. Wazza fills that spot, playing somewhat behind the striker (Saha, Larsson). I think the crux of our difference plays into the difference between their teams. Sir Alex really has Man U playing an aggressive counterattacking style this year that is putting in a flurry of goals. Barca plays a bit differently, relying mainly upon Ronaldinho's ability to crack Primera defenses.

Who is more complete? I don't know if that is a fair question. Originally the claim was that Cristiano was more imaginative. I think a serious study of his goals and assists would show that the majority of them come from him beating individual defenders for pace (as seen by the high amount of fouls he receives), whilst Ronaldinho fetches most of his with mazy footwork, ankle-breaking pivots, and superb finishing. C. Ronaldo may have the same skill set and confidence to boot, but he rarely is afforded the opportunity to dazzle that way. SAF likes his stars, but likes linked attacking opportunities even more.

Let's pray the Champions' League will afford us future opportunities to debate this by giving a match of these two stars head to head :D

Thank you.

Give me a Giggs over a Ronaldo or a Ronaldinho anyday.

I do agree that Ronaldo is a more effective player than Ronaldinho. He brings something to the team over the full 90 mins which I don't see Ronaldinho do all the time.

And does anyone else find Ronaldinho's cocky attitude annoying??

It seems like that to me.

Apparently Van Nistleroy is trying his best to convince ronaldo to go to Real Madrid.
Also plattini is new president of UEFA and he wants to limit it to 3 teams to go through into the champions league! I don't like deco much, but he is an absolutely awesome player. Him and kaka make my head spin.

I hate van nistelroy. Not a fan at all. But hey, players I hate are usually because they're great players like Henry. (I really do dislike Beckham though).:irked:

I would have a pretty great time just discussing football with you and andregurov.
