Rose Queen Cichlid Tankmates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Like in all the other threads you posted, you can not add any tank mates into a 55 gallon tank without Rose Queen being killed or killing the other fish.

I have already told you that I am new to using forums. My friend is helping me out with this one. My Rose Queen is living with my JD fine and no problems yet. I have had them together for 3 days now. My LFS said it was OK. They can have tankmates just not a lot. I'll be turning to them for information now since I can't get a decent reply from everyone on this site. Everyone keeps hasling me over posting too many threads. I thought this place was for asking questions!!! I'll trust my LFS from now on! They have steered me right for my first year of fishkeeping. So much for MFK!

It has nothing to do with not knowing how to use a forum.

You just arent listening.

You've been given these answers. Maybe pay attention to them this time.

YOU
One last question can it live with a 6" JD in a 55 gallon. sorry if I'm being annoying, just can't find the info any where else. This is the last question I have, Promise

I wouldn't recomend it, but it's a trial and error thing when it comes to compatibility.

Cichlids are very unpredictable... chances are, it will not work.

Both of these fish are territorial and aggressive in nature.

I think a one on one with a JD in a 55 is a real risk. When I said their temperment wasn't bad I was talking about in with a lot of similar sized fish in a pretty big environment.

YOU
Can a rose queen live with a JD in a 55 gallon. They are both about 8".

I'd say no... too territorial of fish.. the Rose Queen will probably end up killing the JD..

A 55 Gallon is pretty much only big enough for one cichlid full grown.. You can use it as a grow out tank but for a RQ you can only have one and even a 55 is a bit small....

I'd say you cant keep anything with the RQ or the JD in a 55 at that size they will probably fight til one is gone or dead and gone.

YOU
Anyone know of any? I would like to add a BP or something like that.

a prime example of what i was saying in my other thread

reasurance? :grinyes:

let give him it.

Well, this isnt really the same thing is it?
He's been told the same answers over and over. It's not like he hasnt gotten an answer because members feel to high and mighty to give him one. They've tried telling him, but he isnt hearing the answer because he has selective hearing. He doesnt want to hear that tankmates of any sort are a bad idea.

You have asked a question (what tank mates can go with your Rose queen in a 55 gallon) and you have gotten an answer (none, since the fish gets too large and aggressive), after you did not hear what you wanted to hear you went ahead and posted another thread asking the same thing, and then another. This has nothing to do with being new to using the forums, you are simply refusing to listen to answers and want to hear what you want to hear.

You have a young Jack Dempsey and you have a young Rose Queen, give them time and see what happens. Rose Queen hybrids, just like the rest of Flowerhorns, get over a foot long which is bigger than width of a 55 gallon fish tank and just like most Cichlids they are aggressive. An adult will not tolerate another tankmate, they attack the glass when you walk by!

You got plenty of decent replies, again, you are not listening and now you are putting everyone down because they are not telling you what you want to hear! A fish store worker is a sales person, a sales person will tell you anything to sell you a fish. In fact, they sell catfish that will weight more than half the members on here as adults to people with 55 gallon fish tanks. You are a perfect customer, uneducated and refusing to learn taking advise from a sales person versus people who are in the hobby wanting you to have a pleasant experience with your aquarium.

Grow up, learn.

SORRY BIG TIME GUYS!!!

Its just been hard for me lately. I haven't had much luck with the hobby recently. Until know that I have had the help of you all. I just got tired of not hearing my anser and shoudn't have lashed out at any of you. I am sorry to have downed MFK and any of its members. I hope you except my appology.

I hope to learn more from you guys in later threads about other fish. lol

And would like to help anyone with their questions if at all possible. I hope you except me back into this community so I can learn more.

Thanks

I keep my two Rose Queens with comparably sized KK Parrots. Because they are basically the same color and not too far off in body shape, they will run at each other and close to lip lock. It's not a bad mix in my book. As mentioned, they will both get close to a foot long--your tank size will be an issue. Another good fish in the mix is a red bay snook. Just make sure they are smaller because their mouth is incredibly large but a nice fish in temperment....in my opinion.

If you go parrot, try to get the KK based on proper mouth closing and appearance.

Yes I love the color red in my fish.
