RTCxTSN looks like he's gold plated???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
LOOKS LIKE ITS BLEACHED OUT BECAUSE OF THE COLOR OF THE BOTTOM TRY PUTTUNG HIM WITH DARK SUBSTRATE

Thanks for all the compliments. I'm happy to hear that others have seen this happen to their cats, and that it can be normal. He's been slowly getting little areas gold over a period of several months, but it color exploded when I put him in the 600 gallon tank (don't worry, its just a grow out tank). He's been on the same color bottom since he was 3.5", so I don't think its a substrate thing. He will change his base color though depending if the lights are on or not. Oh, and he was 24" or so about a 2 months ago and he's just now about 1.5 years old.

He looks great. I'm picking up a baby soon myself.

Congrats. These guys are awesome. He's so interactive. Even when he's full and won't eat anymore, he's still swimming around at the front of the tank where ever I am standing. He's completely interested in whats going on 'beyond the glass'.

Beautiful! My TSN is getting some gold on him as he's getting older. Nothing even close to that but I definatly think its just pretty color and nothing wrong with him. I LOVE your tank! I'm a catfish junkie so that is ideal for me. Got more pics posted somewhere?

Sounds like he has some personality. All of your cats look great.
He most definitely does. He's grabbed and taken off with nets, and tried to swim off with my 30" graspers. He loves to follow you and the the magnet around when you clean the acrylic. He's fun.

Cool! And thanks. It's really fun to have these guys in there. I couldn't be happier with the dimensions for right now. It's 8'x4'x30". There is a link in my signature to the 600 gallon tank. The thread is pretty long, but there are photos of moving the tank as well as pictures and videos of the fish. I haven't updated it for a few weeks. I've been too busy. Once the holidays are cleaned up and I have my garage back to normal, I want to get the driftwood put together and in the tank as well as video of all the filtration.

Yeah, my guys did that. They've slowed down lengthwise now, but have been packing on the pounds. I can't get my hands all the way around the TSN and the RTCXTSN. Last night I fed at least 2 cups of a mix of hikari food (mostly massivore) and then the big TSN also put away a half pound of shrimp. I guess they've grown more that I realized since I put him in the 600, especially the TSN. He wasn't even grotesquely bloated and miserable, but just swimming around with a nice full belly.
