Hey guys! I came home tonight and found my RTG like this.... He probably jumped up and hit the glass cover or soemthing cause I really can't think of anything in the tank that can cause that kind of injury. He musta hit the plastic hinges of the glass cover and cut himself above the eye.

I just did a 15% WC and added 2 tablespn of salt. I will keep up doing WC's every 3 days and add salt as well. The temperature of the tank is usually 28.5C but if there is cooking the living room heats up fast and the tank temperature can spike up to 29C or 30C. So i'm going to keep my heater on what its on right now so my tank won't get a heat spike up and over 30C which would be too hot...

Does anyone know of any other ways to help heal my RTG faster? or protect him so this won't happen again?

Thanks all.

Heres a pic of the vicious injury =*(

yes i agree with add more salt, and keep water clean

use melafix, and remember to remove carbon and UV light if you have them. Mine aro comm injure all the time so your should be fine.

Mines done that before, looks real nasty but soon heals.

It's just a scratch nothing to worry about. Tank temp is nothing to worry about, only small changes in normal range.
x2 what Koji said.

Ok thanks guys for help. I cam home and my rtg didn't greet me as usual and I knew something was wrong... Such a pain in the ass seeing my rtg injured like that.

Although... Its summer time right now and we get spiders sneaking into the place more often from the windows. I have this conclusion that maybe a spider was ontop of the glass canopy and thats why my RTG banged himself up so badly... either that or I had a friend come over today to check out the RTG. Maybe seeing a new face freaked him out? I dont know...

Does anyone know how long it will take to heal? a month?

The RTG is in total shock right now just in the back corner slowly swimming against the powerhead current.
