I don't think it will just "fall off", that makes no sense unless it's a fungus or such. Which is doubtful. If he did jump and hit himself, which is possible. He's probably just scared now.
Keep the lights off unless your checking if he's okay, and do maybe 2 WC's a week. Add salt like others and do what everyone else said. Your probably too worried about it and checking it several times a day and flipping lights on and off and just freaking it out even more. I've done this before, you seriously have to let it be to an extent. It'll probably take upwards up to a month to be fully healed and even longer to not be scared as much. Seriously watch it, but your probably doing too much and scaring it even more.
In the past 3 days you've took 6 pictures. IDK about you, but when I take pics of my fish I take ALOT. Let it be, it will be fine. Not trying to be an *** or anything either.

Turn off the light and only leave the front of the tank exposed, i.e. cover the back and both ends. Don't let him see red objects like red shirt - my jardini almost jumped when he saw me putting on a red t-shirt yesterday. Do you have glass tops on the tank and if so are the sharp edges exposed? Try to eliminate sharp/pointy objects to avoid further damage.
Don't know why/how you could get brown water. It could be decay from the poops or filter needs cleaned. Good luck!
