rumor- drop eye

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Del - yeah show them the pic you took. Or people could simply look downwards into their tank and see the lack of reflection :D

dodge - that may be the cure, sure, but it still doesn't prove what causes the drop eye exactly.

It's more likely part genetic, part diet. It's definitely not bare bottom.

I thought about the ping pong idea, and its too plain of an object so I used 3 blue bio balls, they move around alot and also spin. Hasn't cured his drop eye but its not any worse, so who knows. Give the bio ball a try.

i been thinking about this for weeks.
i think,
in the wild, there looking in the trees for insects right?
waters not clear to see that far down in s america right?
in a tank, everythings under them most of the time.
i fed my aro his first cricket last night.
was awsome.and he was looking up at it floating around for a bit, then hit it.
im going to try it more so he keeps an "eye" up. :D

I've heard of the Ping Pong Ball method as well. If reflection of a bare bottom tank is the problem...why not put a mirror above the aquarium? Would that work?

arowana are designed to hunt at the surface but will go after food at all levels of the water column, this includes fish swimming at the bottom

and usually the water that arowana live in are crystal clear though it varies with the current environmental conditions

If that's the case whats the story behind blacks, aussies, and asians? They rarely get it.

Agreed...

There has to be another reason.

well i read somewhere its from a diet to high in fat. the fat causes deposits behind the eye pushing it out and then down. it said try and stay away from feeders and get your aro onto fillets, shrimp and pellets.

any comments?

delgado??
