Raised them from babies to 8"+ and they've been my favorite fish for a long time. Main reason is that they never leave each other's side. Lately they've been doing a lot of courting and pit digging, but I'm not convinced that my water is acidic enough for them. But they sure are fun to watch!

Absolutely stunning pair - must be truly mezmerizing to watch in person.

Any thoughts to adding peat or anything else to lower the pH?

Thanks :) I did think about packing some peat in the filter but eventually decided it might be too risky. The tank is at pH5.5 now. If it goes down to pH3 or something, something is probably going to crash (e.g., the whole bacterial population would change).
