i prefer the old setup although i do agree with that ca and sa cichlids should be broke down into sub forums.

I like the new setup much better than the alternative, which is to only post our CA/SA pics in the main photo lounge. It was a great idea imo. I also agree with Terd that some of the posts that shouldn't be moved to the media lounge are, and vice versa.

Agree completely - good idea to "clean up" the place a little for people with common interests to hang out.

Anything that has information or a purpose other than "look at my fish" can go in the old section. The media lounge is a way to show your fish/pictures. If a showoff thread becomes an informational thread, it can be easily moved.

So by that definition, some of my Today in the Fishroom photos should be able to go in the main section. For example showing pictures of fish breeding with a description?

Perhaps. If some of them got moved during the period where things were being organized and you feel they are in the wrong spot, report it and we'll go from there.

They'll just move it to the Breeding forum. They did it today to my thread about my five breeding pairs. I feel it's much more pertinent in the CA/SA forum as it's not just about "breeding", but as it happens and deals specifically with guapotes. I mean, honestly, there isn't much CA action in the breeding forum. People don't go to the Breeding forum for their CA/SA info as it's all already in the CA/SA forum.

Personally, and this is just me, I feel there is too much moving of threads that just end up making good info harder to find. I pretty much stick to the CA/SA forum and the Photo Lounge and that's it. That's what I like. That's what I do. I don't want to weed through 49 threads about breeding guppies and angels to get info about guapotes in the Breeding forum. More specifically, I don't want to go to 49 other subforums to get info that should be here in the CA/SA forum.:screwy:

***EDITED TO ADD***

This is only my opinion and I don't intend to offend anyone who has moved any of my threads.

That's great, but there is several thousand other members that may not look at things in the same way that you do. the goal of separating "Nice fish" threads with ones that actually have information is to make it easier for someone new to find what they're looking for. If you disagree with a thread being moved, simply report it. It may or may not get moved, but it will be looked at by several moderators that don't always agree. It's a pretty balanced playing field......

I understand what you're saying. I kind of disagree with you though (respectfully). All this moving only makes good info harder to find. If you wanted to find out about breeding dovii, would you go to the CA/SA forum or the Breeding forum?

What I don't like about all this reorganization taking place in the CA/SA forum more specifically is that nearly any informational thread can be forced into a different forum even though it pertains specifically to CA/SA cichlids. Got a pic in your info thread? Off it goes to the Media Lounge. Mention your fish have or are breeding? Off it goes to the Breeding forum. Want to know what kind of substrate and filtration is best for dovii? Off it goes to the Setup & Filtration forum. Where does it stop? The experts that know are here in the CA/SA forum. It has tons more traffic than the ones I've just mentioned for good reason. This is where CA/SA specific info should be posted. I just think it would be easier for EVERYONE (newbs included) to find CA/SA information if it was in ONE place instead of 9 different sub forums.

And again, this is only my opinion. And no offense meant to anyone.;)

I'm not offended at all and I appreciate your concern.
Let's boil it down to what the media lounge is intended for:

A place to show off your fish. Period.

If you don't agree with something being moved, or if something is moved that later becomes informational, report it. A forum is only as good as it's members. Mods can't do it all.

Think back to all of the "look at my fish" threads. They were really cluttering YOUR forum with posts that contained absolutely no information. A lot of the time fish would be posted that didn't even have a description of what they are. There may have been threads that were initially moved that shouldn't have been, but we've had mods literally spend hours trying to get a grip on things for everyone.

Can we please everyone? Absolutely not. Can we try? Absolutely. It's threads like these that spawn ideas so I appreciate everyone's concern.

I understand that certain things may be moved not that may not need to be moved. There is a learning curve involved with any change.
Do you really think the idea is bad? Is it horrible to aim to have a separate location for threads that are just "chat" (for lack of a better term)?
