SA/CA Media Lounge

If there is to be a big change (and I still like it the way it is/was), it should be along these lines (as above). Only I would probably like it like this...

Central American Cichlids with a Media Lounge sub forum

&

South American Cichlids with a Media Lounge sub forum

&

Oscars with a Media Lounge sub forum

But I still do like it the way it is/was.

That would be the simplest and most "like it is now" way to do it.

I disagree with breaking up SA/CA. The majority of people into SA/CA cichlids keep both and often in the same tank. We don't need any this belongs in the SA forum instead of the CA forum crap. I keep both and like to be able to talk about both in the same forum without someone telling me I'm in the wrong place. Look around, most tanks here are a combination of SA/CA fish.

I'd be careful about changing to the same format as some of the other forums that have been far less successful then MFK's. There's a reason that we have so many happy, helpful members.

Agreed. After all, many have CA tanks with festaes in them ... and what about the umbies?

I rather like it as is now. At first I didn't like the whole media lounge idea, but that's mostly because I dislike change being a grumpy old man. But having to wade through 20 posts about pacu and aro's in the Photo Longue looking for SA/CA pics got frustrating enough that I stopped visiting the Photo Lounge all together. For the same reasoning though, I would love to keep the breeding posts here in the SA/CA folder as I don't want to have to wade through 20 guppy breeding posts to find the SA/CA stuff.

i liked it the way it was as i read most of the threads here, didnt matter if it was breeding or sickness and health or just photos of sa/ca. i dont mind the media lounge being launched to show off just pics of your fish but most of the time once the op post his pics up then other people look at them and start asking questions as what kind of cichlid is that or do they get along and how is the agression. i think most of the picture threads usually got turned into a informational thread anyways. as far as breeding and health issues go. if i have a festae with something wrong with it and acting wierd then i come here because most likely there will be members that have had the same issues with the same fish and can give me faster and more informative awnsers on what to do then i would ever get in the sickness and health forum. same with breeding. if i want to know how to breed dovii i would get alot more info here then the breeding forum. i could be wrong but i dont recall anyone asking for a change but when the change was made then members are coming out and stating there dissapointment. media lounge not a bad idea even though i still dont think its needed as most get turned into informational value so then you have to move a thread twice once to the media lounge then when it get informative back to the sa/ca. thats just how i feel. good luck with which ever direction it goes. not trying to step on anyones feet.

i think for now there have been enough changes here..media lounge and regular forum is enough for now... and i won't move out anything that has to do with breeding etc.. so we will see how it works out this way...

Not to beat a dead horse..or fish for that matter...but where's the line between what gets posted where? Lot's of see my fish in the main CA/SA section. Why not just combine the tow forums and be done with it. If it's difficult to police, it shouldn't be worth the time.

Just my two cents. I think the CA/AS media lounge is buried. I realize it's a volunteer job guys. Do your best.

I thought we made it clear in our announcement thread that threads purely to show off your pics and fish should be in media lounges. ID threads stay here in the main forum. Report the threads in the media lounges if they're informative or ID threads mistaken to have been moved there and we'll deal with it.

One reason why we have media lounges is because there are hundreds of photo threads piling up on the informative threads hence the staff decided to push through the media lounges to segregate the collection pics from informational topics. This is better than segregating all collection pics to Photo Lounge.
