Miles you are correctin theory, it is true that when u receive fish that are bagged in super high ammo low oxygenated water the ph rises as u open the bag and a dangerous spikes can occur. But to suggest that the fish would of been better off with no low oxygen is silly.

If O2 is available, it would be better to have it be constant with some sort of release from the bag. This would make for a more steady pH. Changing the water and re-oxygenated the bag with the combination Cichla Bioload, not to mention spring water which could have less alkalinity, might cause the pH to swing up and down causing additional stress.

Just my 2 cents.

Sorry for your losses Jed, but I am envious of your collection. :headbang2

sorry for the loss on the tems... was a good read gave me some ideas for if i have to do a move like that.

I never suggested a water change,, I said bag em and go the whole drive after adding o2 and ammo lock.

If a water change is needed it is essential u use a product to lower the ph b4 adding new water. In my opinion non of this was needed. Big bags lots of water and o2 and drive.

I would have done this as well, but hindsight is always 20/20.
