Sajica Cichlid -75 Gallon Set Up

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wetspot is very good with their shipping. I have only ever had 3 DOAs in like 3 years of buying from them, (colombian cardinal, el tigre endler, wild latipinna), all were compensated for. I've had fish delivered from them with snow on the box, fish were fine.

This was my second order from them. I previously ordered harlequin rasbora's for my planted tank and had a great experience. They are now my go to for any online fish purchases.

Any recommendations on what to feed these guys fo variety? I have NLS cichlid, NLS Thera-A, NLS Algae, Hikari Vibra Bites, Sera O Nips, and NLS Flake. Plus frozen brine, bloodworms, and mysis. I like to provide a varied diet so am always on the lookout for different foods.

You don't really need to feed multiple different pellets for variety, that's what the whole pellet thing is for. You're not really getting any extra or unique ingredients between each. I personally feed all my stuff the generic sera cichlid formula, with some exceptions. Sajica would appreciate a more plant based diet with easier to digest proteins, which some of the other "green" sera formulas also provide, but it isn't essential, like it would be in the case of things like nanolutea or spilurus. Stick to the frozen mysis and bloodworms though. My picks from NLS are the red one and thera a, but I prefer sera because it's like half the price, has easier to digest ingredients, and I can't smell when I accidentally left the can open.

I’ll have to try the red NLS. If anything my Rasbora's in the 90 gallon will like it. The Sajica’s are enjoying spirulina brine and bloodworms tonight. Incredible how they come right up the glass to greet me.

Here’s a full tank shot. Plants have gone to riot but they are enjoying swimming through them for now. A rescape is coming. I have another large piece of driftwood soaking and I’m trying to figure out to incorporate it. I’m thinking of laying it down like in the second picture and building caves underneath.

The driftwood:

Also picked up some stones from Home Depot. I like the round stone to try and create a river look. They didn’t have any in the large size I wanted, so I grabbed the largest they had. Also two Terra cotta pots to create caves.

Plus some leftover rock I’ve had from previous tanks.

Either the uncle or father of yours, owned by my friend

That is awesome! He is a great looking fish. That’s so cool that see a picture of a related fish. How long has your friend been breeding them?

They are starting to get feisty and there is definitely a dominate individual. They almost seem to be breaking off into groups of three. Starting to chase each other off but no harm yet. I am going to rescape the tank soon to help create some line of sight breaks. I’ve had some driftwood soaking. Also planning on adding some 40 or 60 breeders and building out the fish room for when they need separated. Also have some Poecilia sphenops in quarantine to add distraction.

I can’t determine the sex yet though. I’ve read about fin color and how far the “T” extends into the dorsal, but I don’t know if mine are big enough yet.

Tried to get some pictures but they move quick. Any tips for sexing?

My friend just got the pair, but he got them from the owner of wetspot (he works at wetspot)
The group has probably been breeding for around a year, I got mine in like June ish

That’s awesome. I’ve been very impressed with The Wet Spot. Ordered a school of 30 Harlequin Rasbora’s for my planted tank a few months back and they are the most richly colored Harelquin’s I’ve ever seen or kept. With that order and these guys everyone came in very healthy and was eating same day.
