Salminus Franciscanus (Golden Dorado)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks. Good enough for me. I have a Brassie unless moe proves me wrong. yep :grinyes:
I like both species and difference in size and behavior seems minimal since not enough is reported on confirmed brassie's. I'm not out to disprove anyone :)

You chaps tired of my dorados yet?
For those who don't have the time to go through this thread, I'll do a quick summary.

Tank is 225g
1/15hp Wave I pump (3000gph)
Homemade bead filter from a pool sand filter.
30% water change once a week.
Feeding Massivore pellets only.
Started with (5) 4"-5" Franciscanus from fugupuff (Wes) on March 2017. One jumped out Nov 2018 during a power outage.

My last update of the year. I promise.
I like to close the year by saying that this hobby can be challenging but it is this forum and the staff that make it great. It allows us to share both bad and good for all to learn from.
Towards the tail end of the year there was a definite change in positive spirit on MFK.
The two big things that I got out of this year is.....First, sharing is awesome but not all people approve of the "LIKE" button. Takes away from discussion. Participation is key but there is no place for made up BS. Let's share more personal experience or thoughts then....my Dad or my friend or internet vomit.
Second, I've used the search feature several times this year. Sometime there is no info or too much to sift through. Most important is data can be out of dated and not one size fits all as we all saw in the "washed my bio" thread. Good learning that. There might be something better today. So pardon the redundant questions.
Likes see what 2019 brings!

C Chicxulub look at the head shots, especially the fourth. Two teeth bigger than the rest indicate Frankie, right or wrong? If so we must really be getting mixed batches. That must happen due to man. What if the farms are hybridizing.

See ken, we can't be sure anymore lol

I saw that too. Good call. Tbh I think Ken has a mixed batch, but I can't say so confidently without being absolutely sure that I can examine each fish critically and in great detail. I'm reasonably certain it's either 3/1 frankies to brassies, or maybe 2/2

Ken I know you mentioned one specimen behaves differently. Is that the only one or do others do too? Any noticeable difference in them turning gold, maybe some more than others?
