Salmon in the Classroom

My kids enjoy having tanks in the classroom, at the least it makes for a good change of pace during the day. So far turtles are my students favorite that I have brought in.
As a teacher, I bet it is very rewarding when you can get through all the barriers that society/peers puts on the kids, and get them to actually take a close look and get an real understanding of something...

I have never seen one in the wild though. I have only seen six of those ten on the poster. The Mudpuppy is my favorite.
 
The salmon started to hatch today! They started around 7:30 this morning and were hatching all day. Very cool. I'll take some new pics tomorrow and try to get them up.

I've got to say it's kind of funny that they gave you photos of invasive species along with the salmon eggs, as that species of salmon is an introduced species as well.

Who determines what an "invasive" species is vs. an "introduced" species?

Hopefully the students enjoy it.
