Thanks! My coraline algae is doing that too. I think I know why....I accidentally let the water level in my sump get down too low and the return was spraying air bubbles all over it for a few hours while I was at work. Would that be bad for corals also? Parts for a DIY Auto Top Off system are on the way!

Some of my leather coral is looking a bit unhealthy, kinda shriveled a bit and the polyps are not coming out. Does leather coral like a lot of flow? most soft coral's prefer a moderate flow not being blasted by a power head.

corals can handel lots of time out of water..
Remember they come from shallow reefs that get exposed by tides..
I know a guy that delivers corals (within 8 hours) in a wet paper towel so the coral doesn't sit in it's slime coat...They are fine...

So I got a couple more corals today, but I'm going to have to post pics tommorow when I can turn my lights back on. The real reason I'm posting tonight is bcuz I think my yellow-tail damsel is getting overly aggressive. He has been swimming up beside my clownfish and flaring the fin on his back as if to try to intimidate him. He sometimes nips at the clownfish and they get into a little tussle. Is this kind of behavior common for damsels? Is it probably going to continue? Should I try and get the damsel out, and if so, how?

btw, I'm almost done putting together an auto top-off system for my sump. I'm just waiting for some float switches to show up in the mail that need to be integrated in to the circuit. I'll post some pics when its finished.

99.999999% of all damsel's are like that ^ that is why I call it the damsel curse when people buy them to test the tank. he'll be really hard to catch you may have to bait him with food and a net.

Well that sux. Wish I had known that before I put him in...oh well. I think I might have to make some kind of trap to get him cuz he is very skittish.

One of the two new coral frags I got has some purple zoas and some orange zoas on it. Now that I have them in my tank I'm not sure I like the way the orange ones look, and I might take them out. The purple ones aren't all that impressive either, but I want a large variety of zoa colors in the tank.

The other frag I got is leng sy montipora. I really like the colors on it, and supposedly its pretty rare....

This damsel is such a pain in the ass. I tried netting him, even tried baiting the net, and he just hides in the liverock as soon as the net hits the water. I'm going to have to make or buy some kind of trap I guess.

I spotted a hitchhiker I've never noticed before on my liverock today. Its a small seven-legged starfish. Its a dull gray color and it has only partially regrown some of its legs. Since the opportunity was there, I took him out of the display and put him in the sump until I can get an ID. I attached some pics...is this guy reef safe??
