saltwater newbie attempting a 55 gallon reef

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have more issues with my flame pickin on tank mates than i did with corals. I think im goin to stick with fowlr as of now. My kids would have a fit if i got rid of their butterfly. Hes the main centerpiece of the tank now.

i read that they arent too easily kept in the home aquarium but the symbiotic relationship between a cleaner wrasse and the fish that allow it to clean them seems pretty neat. i really like the thought of a species of goby that will pair with a pistol shrimp, but i have puffers and dont know how they would do with a shrimp like that. they tend to eat crabs/crayfish without a problem so i imagine they will go after a pistol shrimp as well

yasha hasha goby with shrimp, I believe it's the candy strip pistol shrimp

It looks sooooooooooooooooooo involved.almost discouraging to me.I have been studying for weeks on how to start a tank and all the hoses and lines and pumps etc just look so complicated.damn.Beautiful tank and I am only up to page 27 right now.

thanks .I will take it as a challenge then. I know I can do it but its just new territory-expensive also.Your tank is looking great btb!

Flame angels are beautiful, just dont order them online, you never know what coloration your going to get, ill post you a pic in the morning of mine, all he does is swim around picking at algae or waiting for me to feed him.

And another idea, i know its probably going to be contested but i bought a pinktail trigger and he is probably the most interesting and coolest fish i have, he does not "nip" at anything in my tank, not even my inverts. He follows me around the tank and actually watches me, he yawns when hes tired, im not kidding..sweet fish.
