I was wondering if anyone had any experience with salvini cichlids. Theres not a lot online. Ive heard that they are agressive and was wondering if its true and what would be suitable tankmates

Breeding pairs and mature adult males can be very aggressive. As for tank mates can't suggest much unless I know the tank size.

200L I would keep a pair max with lots of decor for the female to escape the male, my old male was a handful in a 815L,

Is there any other fish that i could keep with him. Ive heard that when breeding they may need to be seperated and i wouldnt have another tank to seperate. Are plecos okay?

Xiphophorus hellerii (swordtails) as dither fish and a medium sized plec sp should be OK.

Nasty buggers. Make sure there's enough space for them

Mine chased my other fish constantly

Mine seems not too aggressive but im worried that that'll change as he gets older. Hes around 6-7 inches so he might be near fully grown

All the salvini I kept were very aggressive, and get more so as they age.
And I agree with Dan, other cichlids in the same tank, are problematic, but live bearers as dithers are your best bet, as long as they are large enough not to be eaten.
MFK member newworld has caught them in Mexico, and kept those wild type salvini, and I believe he considers them "pound for pound", one of (if not "the") most aggressive North American cichlid.

Ive read that jack dempseys are good tank mates. Would you agree or just stick with dither fish
