Sand vs. Gravel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My main preference in most of my tanks is sand mixed with some gravel, with a few choice river rocks in strategic locations. :D Much easier to take care of, because all the poopies don't sink into the very bottom where it takes a ton of effort to reach with a gravel vac. And the fish constantly stir it up, so you don't get a nasty buildup of algea on the top layer like you do with large gravel.

here are some pics of my tank now that everything has settled. I want something to occupy the middle region of the tank any Ideas?

White sand evenly and lightly sprinkled with black gravel looks best IMO. Looks very tropical, and easy to plant.

Edit: Looks like I was late for the party! Haha

haha im decided to plant this tank. its empty again and the african cichlid idea didnt go very far so im going back to where i started: community tank! lol i gotta get this tank ready again. theres nothing in it but playsand right now.
