Yes, I’ve found they have a lot of intraspecies competition if kept in groups smaller than 5, they would always pick on eachother so I ended up keeping my favorite. I do plan to have a tank full of scats some day though
Wow, I never took them to be that vicious. Awesome. Sort of reminds me of my GSPs.
Now that they are bigger, and know what these food fish mean they strip them to the bone in a matter of seconds. Eat everything including the eyes. They have small little mouths, so I am surprised at the quick work they do. I have kept red belly piranhas before too, and the RBPs would have serious competition with these guys haha. They practically jump into my hand when I open my lids now. Honestly some of my favorite fish I ever kept. Very personable too.
