.....thats a good question....
I am looking to buy a new guitar and was trying to decide between the Schector omen, or the schector shedevil guitars. Anyody own one or have an opinion on them?

I like the schecter omen but key word like. I would much rather play a c-1 classic as the neck is faster and it is a little more balanced. I used to have a C-1 but sold it for a down payment on my Custom Charvel. It you can save a little more for the C-1 classic or the guitar in your price range really worth buying is the Ibanez SZ720FM. I have the Ibanez and it is a dream. I really enjoy playing it. Plus Ibanez's pups have more output even though they're still passive. The neck is smooth and fast the only thing about it is the neck is a little flat so you don't get great tone when you do 1- 1 1/2 bends. There is no shape to the sound however you compare it to a 67' strat then you will hear and feel the difference in the neck. Not knocking it though but they just could of curved it a little more. Unless you get the Rosewood scalloped. Back to the Schecter though. The Omen plays ok and sounds good like a 80's metal or southern rock sound depending on what your looking for. C-1 will open much more options as you can use it in Power Metal, maybe neo-classical but it just doesn't put out the bass needed, Southern Heavy Metal which is hard to pull off a good sound with any Schecter or Ibanez. Never played the Shedevil.

i agree with cross on savin up for the c-1, theyr really great guitars. Id either get a shecter tempest or c-1 fr, or if u saved even more an avenger. Hellraisers are amazing if ur willing to save up more. i've never played an omen or shedevil, but have you considered a gryphon?

LOL with all the fish i have been buying lately, i dont have much to spare for a new guitar! Not to mention gas, electricity, food etc:) The reason i asked about these is cause i've heard alot of people say they are great guitars for the price. Just kinda feelin around.

id definetly try out the gryphon, its a great value for the price.

sorry man, i'm bass. good to see mfk members that play though

I have an Ibanez Bass, It's really nice. I should have invested in one with a tuner built in :nilly: :screwy: :nilly:

Schecters are sick guitars. great craftsmanship , great hardware, great sustain on fixed bridge models... and definately a great price. most people say they compare to PRS gibsons and other high ends.
I always have liked telecaster's too. <-- stock pickups suck tho
I always like the s-1 elite but the new hellraiser tempest is a BAMF and I want it!
go to a guitar center and play one.

How could you possibly compare schecter to Gibson it's absurd.:) They are to totally different sounds and the playiblity is different in both guitars. Gibsons are fat and thick with a full mohagony body with sometimes a maple carve top. Now with the fatness and choice of wood the sound inside the guitar itself will either shorten or lengthen the sustain of the sound being picked up by pickups as the magnets inside the pickups are attracted to the strings in which if a deeper body is present with a hard wood then you will get a more bass kind of sound. Now the reason for maple carve tops is for appeal and how the sound is put out as it will make the guitar have a higher density. Now schecter uses mohagony but they don't have full bodied guitars and they are thinner. Plus to take in account the pickups some may be more reactive to the magnetic pull on the strings in which will cause excellent sustain even with a bolt on neck. Ibanez uses stronger magnets in their pups so thats why I choose Ibanez over Schecter. However you can swap the pups for some active EMG's (my personal favorite active pups) and get the ultimate sound with almost any guitar. EMG's pickups have soo much output and create great sound for most guitars except guitars made out of walnut (which sucks in the first place). I only play guitars made out of mohagony and maple. Gibson IMO is just incredible design on a guitar and have been great since they started. Oh by the way I AM NOT knocking schecter as I lover there guitars as well but they are just not my personal preference in sound. My sound is a combo of Les Pauls and Charvel and maybe my strat but Ibanez is not my signature sound but I love the way they sound and play.
