I have an Ibanez Bass, It's really nice. I should have invested in one with a tuner built in :nilly: :screwy: :nilly:

what else u have? all i have is a squire, that i strippeddown and am putting the parts on a body i lutheired up (i think its a great body for my being a 15 year old freshman with a broken wrist:headbang2)

IMHO I rather buy and play a schecter with coil tapping, as compared to buying and playing a gibson. Gibsons are nice, but every1 has one. with that being said, I will not get on the gibson bandwagon. EVER!. unless somebody feels like buying me one.
Guild also makes a nice axe

i dont like gibsons playability or tone, and i love ibanez playability but not their tone. Shecter and prs are my favorites and imo have the best and tone. i also love gretsch guitars, but theyr too pricy for me.

I have no idea what mine is, I'm going to prolly get a 6 string warwick

nice bass, but who needs 6 strings? I can see using 5 strings, but 6 is gonne leave your fingers sore trying to stretch across that large neck. get 5, it will have a faster neck.

If i get a 6 string it can tune more strings differently without putting to much strain on the neck.

umm... 6 strings Vs. 4. Standard tuning. 6 strings will always put more strain on the neck than 4. If you have a 6 string guitar with a tremolo and you break a string, you go out of tuning.... proof that less strings puts less stress on the neck.
research what Flea plays in the RHCP. its a 4 string.
research what less claypool plays.
if there was a clear advantage of having more than 4 strings on a bass, I think more ppl would play them. 5 strings are good. 6 is overboard, adds weight, makes the neck thicker and fatter, then you gotta buy special string packs at a higher cost.
I'm sorry, Do get it if you like it, but I'm just not sold on the idea that 6 st bass is necessary.

Not necessarly true my friend. 6 strings may or may not cause more stress on the neck as you can tune the strings to different notes in case you don't know that. The reason for 6 strings is MORE NOTES! You can play larger scales and have more flexability when creating music. Sure it may be a little harder to play but that means your a wimp and not willing to practice hours on end day after day and if you don't do that then your not a musician. People who have a pation practice their asses of everyday but there are some people who go oh yeah I play bass or I play guitar. I have seen kids like 6 years old playing 12 string basses. Plus so what if it causes more stress on the neck. The neck should definately hold unless you bought a peice of garbage. There are tons of reasons why more strings are better. You have a more diverse way of playing and making music. People may not like them but thats entirely their opinion. Oh and the reason people don't play 6 strings is because they don't feel like it or their too lazy to play something more complicated. The strings don't cost much more as you can buy thinner gauge sets in which will reduce the stress on your fingers and also cost less.
