This is ironic.
This discussion was just brought up not too long ago.....here people are telling me sure you can keep a school of Armatus together.....there's one guy keeping 3 together. Nevermind all those that have tried and failed that doesn't matter cause 1 person has a few together........lol
I guess it's one of those, "I must try to experience myself", type of thing.
Everyone always wants to be the first to have a mixture that no one else has. The person "WU CHUN" posted sometime ago and has not posted since? Another member Woodysun also had a huge arse Armatus w/other middle top swimmers included an ATF. Now, if you see his updated tanks (video) it's with bottom swimmers. Even he noted the combo before hand did not work out.
In addition, of course by providing plenty of food it will decrease the aggression because they are full. The problem is as the Armatus gets bigger it will just get more territorial and space in the tank will become an issue. It comes back to it's just a matter of time. Not to say that I am an expert on Armatus, just the experience I had w/mine.
Just wait till they reach the 12-13" mark... the attitude will come out even more.
Like a Goliath the Armatus seems to be a solitary fish. Unlike other Payara species that like to school, Armatus's likes to be on it's own. As this is what I seen in my tank with two Armatus and like 6 or so Redtails.
The Redtails stayed close in a group. Where the 6-7" Armatus was at the left side of the tank and the 10" was to the right. Soon as the 6 incher and retails swam too close to the 10" the chase was on. This was in a 96*48*30 size tank.
Anyways, more power to the people who can keep them together. But posting one picture and not provide any updates or history on them will not make me a believer.
