schooling fish for a 55

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've always been partial to blind cave tetras, which are on Lupin's list, but they are not tight schoolers at all, they are extremely active and hardy tetras that grow larger than most of the common tetras

I had a planted tank with Cardinal tetras. If you get something that is a little larger and very active it will help keep the cardinals schooling. After a while if nothing else is in the tank they kind of jus do there own thing.

Tetras , Barbs , Corys , Minnows , Rasboras , Rainbow Fish , Guppies , Molies , Platys , Swordtails , Danios .

Theres a few schooling fish you could go with .

hey guys thanks for all the suggestions but i have decided to go with TIGER BARBS. i was thinking maybe a group of 20 or so? also as bottom feeders i was looking at porthole catfish http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+1163+2815&pcatid=2815 they grow 4" and like to be in groups of around 6. could i keep 6? or maybe 4?

oh and if i decide against the cats. what fish would herd the barbs up to keep them together..i know they dont school on their own because my group of 3 used to shool perfectly untill i took the african knife out.

Exodons. My lfs has them in stock right now and I really like them. They want $10 each or 3 for $25. The price is kind of high and you would need a lot of them but they're so much cooler than tetras and guppies.

Nice suggestion.:) For anyone who doesn't get what exactly this fish is, search on google as Sawbwa resplendens. Most of us in AC actually have these fish and is offered for sale by one of the mods there if anyone wants them.:)
