Yes planning to upgrade to my 125 just didn't think it would be this soon I have to finish my pond and move out my turtles first. And my aro isn't mean like they are said to be I think it's cause he messed with my gator gar and my gar took a swipe at him now he stays away from all other fish

Your tanks are way too small.

The scomb is freaking out because he has no where to hide and because more than likely he's attacking his refection.

Also, a gator gar in a 40b? :uhoh:

Even a 125 is WAAAAY too small for a fish that gets that big that fast. You're gonna need some serious upgrades in the very near future my friend. Keep us updated so we can help you get those fish into some adequate tanks.

For adult fish yes tanks are too small however I am fully aware of what is needed and the gar is only a whopping 5" so a 40 breeder is fine. Now to the scomb I figured out the prob just a few minutes ago when I went in my fish room he had a rosy red in his mouth and was swimming right into the glass he used to hide behind the sponge filter and was just fine now it seem to be looking for a hiding place to finish his meal would some drift wood and plants do the trick ps he is still getting a bigger tank tomorrow but I am painting three sides blue tonight I don't like black it's too dark

They like plants better than driftwood. If you put some grass like plants at the top where they're hanging into the tank like grass from the bank he'll probably love that. It should help calm him down a lot.

Get some tall fake plants, like chicx said, scombs prefere lots of cover to hide. I can tell you right now if you plan on keeping the gator gar with the scomb, your scomb will die the first night.

Ok I will get some tall plants for the sides and some floating ones as well tomorrow at the lfs thanks for the input it was very helpful and ps the gar will never meet the scomb gar is going in my 20' round heated aquaponics tank in the green house when he gets some size to him

Sounds good!

I agree with ol' Slippy up there, gators are notorious for eating expensive silver fish lol
