Wow, I must be the lucky one of the bunch or just have a hungry armatus. Took me less than 2 weeks from purchase to get him on frozen foods. Never even tasted a feeder
I can assume you fed him at some point how often did you feed live during that time ?

I fed him live about every three weeks. After a while he got so used to eating every three weeks that when I took a strip of a fillet and jigged it in the current to look like a feeder when it was time to be fed, he snatched it up so quick that I don't think he even noticed it wasn't live.
Once he took the first one he would reliably feed on fillets from that point forward.
Over time I'd move the fillets closer and closer to the surface till he was taking the fillets from the top of the water. Once he was doing that reliably, I stopped giving him fillets and let him figure out what to do with the floating pellets that the other fish ate. It only took him a few days.
