dude my aro is a mean fish. its attacking all the other mbuna. even my two auratus run from it. is it safe to leave it there or is there a chance my auratus might rebel. i dont wanna wake up and see its all beat up. ever since it started attacking the cichlids, i just patrols the bottom of the tank and forgot about the top.

Jardini aren't the most compatible fish. They are aggressive. You'll find out pretty quick who it wants you to get out of the tank, and who it will allow to stay. What size tank is this?

:swear::swear::swear: Why do you have mbuna with a Jardini!!!??? I think you should of put more thought into this.

other sites ive seen says that suitible tank mates are cichlids not small enough to be eaten and other miscellaneous fish. its in a 29 gallon for now. it doesnt really get into fights just once in a while a fish might swim too close and it launches itself at them. they probably meant south american cichlids but i think it will do fine with the mbunas with that heater added.

Do you know the max. size of your new fish?!!!!!

it is 3" atm so he has time to get it a proper tank for its adult size of about 2 feet...

i dont have any new fish. its in with all my small mbunas that are inferior to it.
my jardinis pelvic fin is torn a litle probably from a fight that it won. its not too bad and its only one of the pelvic fins. will it grow back? its a stupid question but i read about the tail drop and some damaged fin rays and the info makes it seem like aros cant recover from damaged fins.

I think fin damage is the least of your worries at the moment.

Really in general I think you need to return that fish.

Don't mean to be mean or cast assumptions but I agree with everyone else that you may need to put a little more thought into your new fish - the Jardini.

First off, the fish it self is aggressive and will even attack cichlids - as you've seen.
Second, and most importantly, they get really big. Will you be able to move it into a bigger tank when it outgrows the one you've put it in?
Thirdly, do you know the rest of the proper care procedures you'll need to take care of this fish - or at least - the fish you currently have?
Not having a heater for tropical fish - and cichlids to boot, seems like theres some more reading in order.
