They go out there and do work. Unlike those who bring cardboards on to the streets to do something they call it the protest. Its stupid. The only way work is going to be done is to go out there and do work
i agree

Protesting to the politians will never get anything done, going out there and killing the F***ERS that are the problem WILL get things done and is currently the only way for the sea shepherd to get it's job done and it's point across

A human life is worth no more or no less than the lives of any other organism. Life is nothing but a series of complex chemical reactions that occur in every living thing on this planet if human lives are worth so much then all other lives have this same value, and if you beleive that then you should also be of the opinion that certain basic chemical reactions also have value.... see where im going? life itself has no value and therefore every life is equal and therefore sometimes killing is an acceptable way of solving very serious problems like this (Problems that if we don't fix are going to doom our future generations) A few ignorant lives need to be sacrificed in order for our future generations to be able to enjoy the same things we enjoy today (such as living!)

Im not going to argue you on the value of life as you will get plenty of flak on that from others. And to be honest is sounds that you are valuing the whales lives more than humans, which punchs a big hole in that arguement.(maybe I lied) But I have to disagree with the reasoning that thier actions get more done than political and/or law action. They are only aggrevating the people with political power which then look down on the sea shepherd's view point, digressing any progress to save whales. They have not been successful in thier actions to keep the whalers from killing whales. As they have had a whale killed and processed right in front of them...

I freakin' love Sea Shepherd!! I would love to volunteer for them some day. Their tactics may not be perfect, but they work.

And you know they don't just work to stop whaling, right? They also crusade against Sealing, Shark finning, long lining, and drift netting.

I love the work that Sea Shepherd does. They make the world a better place.

im not valueing anything more than another i don't value life anymore than i value how my nitrate test kit changes colour based on nitrate concentration becuase in a nutshell that's life- insert a variable and s*** happens.

Since when does law do anything? people break laws and people will continue to break them. The same will happen if they put anti whaling laws in place not to mention the numerous "special cases" that polititians put into place in order to keep their benefactors happy and their pockets full. Like well you can whale if your part of this ethnic group becuase it's part of your heritage or you can whale as long as it's done in the name of (disguised as) science.

By all means their methods are not perfect because occassionaly innocents will be harmed but certainly sitting in washington with a bunch of cardboard signs doesn't do anything more.

life itself has no value (or one standardized value which is the way i prefer it to be stated) but that dosen't make killing people who have done nothing wrong morally right.

anyway im done in this thread my oppinon has been stated and controversial as it is, is here to stay.

Thier methods do more harm then good, they have a good cause but are like five year olds when it comes to expressing it. They are making the opposition of whaling look very stupid by doing what they do. They are endangering peoples' lives, wasting lots of money, and bringing down the same cause they want to support. First of all you cannot claim someone is carrying out illegal activities and try to stop them professionally. While at the same time performing illegal stunts and actions themselves. How does one come to the logical conclusion that if I become a nuisance to these people they will stop thier multimillion dollar operation? Im not aware of how japanese law works, but I feel spending the money they raise on legal actions agaisnt these japanese companies, as well as PI's to investigate whats going on, that it would be a lot smarter use of thier funds and common sense.

^agreed^

I saw there 1st season on netflix. The captian. Idk his name....the fat one is borderline retarded when it comes to advanced tacktics. I saw one episode where he wanted hem to board another ship at night from a zodiac and distroy there radar. I don't care that it is illegal but coming from special warefare we did months of training in night ops and night boarding in sqt. They all would have probably been killed, maybe imprisoned but I garuantee that they wouldn't have succeeded. Luckily they had to cancel it because something broke. Overall I like the cause and think action should be taken. Just not some fat **** demanding extremely dangers ops for untrained people.

Goal of Paul is to draw attention to illegal Japanese whaling practices. He did that, even if we don't agree with how he went about doing it.

That being said, WHALE WARS is just one of his many projects. He does a LOT of good for the ocean world through other means. Most don't get attention because he and his staff use 'normal' methods.

:iagree:

I hold Capt Watson to almost the same level as Steve Irwin as conservationists. Their methods are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but they have the same goals and do just as much good for the world and ALL of its inhabitants.

Long live Sea Shepherd:headbang2
