Seachem has a new water conditioner that's "better" than Prime

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
"The actual levels differ by municipality" was self-explanatory.

It was, and still is, but the rest of your comments make no sense to me at all. Both Kent & Seachem are very clear as to their dosage rates when treating for chlorine, and chloramine. The only problem that I've seen over the years with regards to dosage rates & water conditioners is one of reading comprehension skills by end users.

I don't have any problem at all with chloramine, because many years ago I took the time to learn how to effectively deal with it, just as I did with chlorine for many years before that.

I've use Prime in the past and it was expensive, but after Safe, I never looked back.
If you catch a sale on customaquatic, it saves on the shiping cost. They go on sale often.

Everyone know gypsy tears greatest water conditioner in all of land!

That's probably something that a caveman once grunted too. lol

The point is that there are other water conditioners out there that are just as effective as Prime, and a few that are far more concentrated/effective, that cost far less. The beauty of some of these products is they are actually made by the same manufacturer. (Seachem)

Who doesn't want to save some $$$ when & where they can?

WHATS UP WITH YOU WOULD YOU HAVE SOME KIND OF SMART COMMENT TO SAY ABOUT EVERY POST I MAKE :screwy:

for years everyone has been going on how great prime is now all of a sudden its not that great and theres better on the market

prime removes everything you need to keep your fish happy and safe i cant see why people who use prime and are happy would need to change

now if seachem discontinued prime and made this new thing as a upgrade then yes use it but its not its just another product in the line

It does not remove the AIDS like gypsy tears! LALALALA LA!

My apologies to any cavemen that may have read my previous comment.

No one has said that Prime isn't a great water conditioner, so unless you can't read it should be rather clear that there are in fact water conditioners (including some made by Seachem) that are far more concentrated, making it far less costly for hobbyists to use.

How difficult is that to understand?

If you would prefer to use Prime because it ain't broke, then by all means that is your prerogative.

I've honestly never seen so much pissing & moaning over someone attempting to help fellow hobbyists save some $$$$.

So I have an excel file that converts the dosage of whatever dechlorinator to my local chlorine levels. My last water report says the max chlorine level is 1.27mg/L so that is what i base my dosage on, i always add a little extra. To see how all this compairs in a way that makes since i got a few prices online without shipping. This chart shows the prices i found which can vary, but also total gallons per each bottle, and gallons per dollar of each product. This is all based on my local chlorine levels. So the numbers will vary but they will all remain higher or lower relativly.

This could change a bit though based on Chloramine since Alpha has such high de-chlorinating ability.

Quite frankly if one is using any of the above to simply treat chlorine, you are paying waaaaaaaay more than you need to for a water conditioner.

If you read the portion on chlorine, depending on the local level of chlorine, for approx $65.00 one can treat anywhere from 1-3+ million gallons of water.

Ok well you are correct on that, how much room does 5lb of sodium thiosulfate take up?

Here is the same chart based on 3.2mg/L Chloramine.
