I'm not seeing much change or decreasing amounts yet, should I just wait it out?

150 gallon w/ 40 gallon sump (I've been using the measurement of 200 total gallons for dosing)- 2 Large plecos (good poopers), 1 Large Firemouth and 1 Large Green Terror added at the end of day 1. Water temp is consistent at 80, tested everyday at 1600 hrs, Stability added AFTER test.

Day 7 - Ammonia 25 ppm, Nitrates 10 ppm, Nitrites 25 ppm

dang at day 7 i was done. and i didnt even have that much nitrite.

UPDATE on my tank, everything going really good. WC every weekend, etc. levels are balanced.

So is it user error or did I get a bad batch (not expired according to the bottle). Temperatures is still good, dosing amount is consistent and time of day for testing and dosing is consistent.

I made a mistake yesterday, TODAY is actually day 7. So far: (all in ppm)

Pretest Ammonia = 0 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 0

Day 1 Ammonia= 50 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 2 Ammonia= 25 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 3 Ammonia = 25 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 4 Ammonia = 25 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 5 Ammonia = 25 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 6 Ammonia = 25 / Nitrates = 10 / Nitrites = 25
Day 7 Ammonia = 25 / Nitrates = 20 / Nitrites = 50

As you can see, Nitrates and Nitrites are increasing. Any ideas??

did you shake the bottle? when dosing it should be foamy and milky white.

Your not shaking the bottle well enough. If your getting your best results on day 7 then that mean most of the solution has been poured into the tank and the last of the bottle is more concentrated. You could get a bad batch buts unlikely. I shake the crap out of the bottle between each capful. Like mentioned above it should look milky and white. This stuff settles quickly so that is why I shake between capfuls. If makes day 1 through 3 far more effective.

Sorry, thought I included all the variables. Yes, I read through this post and a few others so I was thoroughly shaking the bottle before dosing it. It does come out foamy white. Two capfuls, shake, two capfuls, shake, etc... I also was trying to evenly distribute it throughout the tank. Some of it gets sucked down the overflows right away and goes into the sump (where I have a five gallon bucket worth of bioballs, filter pads, etc.) the other capfuls get poured into the tank and get circulated there.

Do you run a UV sterilizer? Something is off because I have never seen anything past 5-6 days max. Sorry if I missed it but what's your stock/feeding schedule?

As I see you are cycling with fish... what was your "pretest" on?

You are listing Day 1 as having 50 ppm of ammonia. Please clarify if you mean 50 ppm, 5.0 ppm or .50 ppm As 50 ppm is unbelievably high...

JK47 - No, I'm not running a UV Sterilizer. My setup is (previous post)

"150 gallon w/ 40 gallon sump (I've been using the measurement of 200 total gallons for dosing)- 2 Large plecos (good poopers), 1 Large Firemouth and 1 Large Green Terror added at the end of day 1. Water temp is consistent at 80, tested everyday at 1600 hrs, Stability added AFTER test."

Are there any other variables anyone can think of? I'm feeding twice daily (beef heart and then pellets). My numbers for today (Day 10) are:

Ammonia .25 ppm (mg/L)
Nitrate 20 ppm (mg/L)
Nitrite .50 ppm (mg/L)
