Do NOT use an under tank heater...pacman frogs will push and get themselves down into the substrate all the way to the bottom. An UTH not controlled by a thermostat will burn the frog. Obviously depending on the depth but why risk it? Go with overhead lighting, use a SAFE substrate and mix some moss in there. Mist daily, no problems.

he is right. undertank heaters are meant to heat through substrate and do get pretty hot when you just touch them. my bad.

Oh my word LC.
Your calling elavethis ugly.. erm have we ever seen a picture of YOUR face? I bet you wouldn't even post one mate. Besides that, what a childish thing to say. Why, for gods sake, when you ask advice of somebody do you end up calling them ugly. You are pretty sad and childish 'my friend'. As for caring for your herps? Are feeding hot dogs to them caring for them? Keeping them in enclosures too small? Buying a pacman frog before you have the setup sorted? Not to mention the re search (and don't say you did because you didn't even no they shouldn't be kept in soley water with a few rocks poking out). Not to mention buying and flogging off animals you can't care for in the first place? Get a grip. And NOBODY is trying to catch you out, it's just people notice when a liar lies.. which you did, and liars aren't liked. I've stuck up for you on numerous occassions but you are out of order on this thread. Don't get an attitude up because people are trying to help you out. Now do EVERYBODY a favour and stop trying to do whats right for you and do whats right for your bloody animals.

ok ok every one calm down. lets be the bigger ones. he asked for advice give your advice and its up to hime wether he takes it or not. obviously this flaming him isnt making the forum a better place. it is his choice as an indivuald to take what we say and put it into practice or not. everyone does things differently for their animals. lets calm done stop flaming and post positive helpful information and ignore anything negetive that has been said...other wise this place will turn into a childish place of name calling fools.

and ladies and gentle men back to the topic....

setting up a froggy enlclosure.

fair enough viced but seriously whats the point anymore? we keep giving advice nd he keeps trying to change our answers? does he deserve the advice for what hes been saying to people and the way hes been behaving? no. but for the odd chance he may just take it and it may help the animals fair enough.

I don't see the problem with a heat mat IF you use a stat and give a pretty deep substrate. Only if you do that though...

I bet ya as sexual as ever don't listen to him. I can tell by his hands he ain't a lucker

Don't worry about the white stuff. It's pearlite, not a fertilizer. Its added in order to help maintain the soils moisture. Many of us use pearlite instead of vermiculite to incubate herp eggs.

Well I'm hotter than both of them  :banhim:

But seriously, re: undertank heaters. I've used them for a pacman but I always did it using the "wet" setup (inch or so of water with sphagnum moss) so burning the frog wasn't an issue. I also used the cobra mats rather than the adhesive ones. That said if you're doing a dry setup or considering one of the sticky UTH I'd say it's a bad idea.
