Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. I'll have a search for posts on glass drilling before I start as I'm sure there will be a few.

Having spoken to the joiner and pushed for the stand to be completed he's now suggested that I make/source the structural part and he can then clad it in wood to match my other furniature. I can work with metal myself but am not very good with wood so I will either have a wooden frame made elsewhere or make my own from metal, prob welded mild steel.

I'm starting to get frustrated at not making much progress but I guess that's just the way things go sometimes.

yeh also big tip is really practice drilling before you actually go ahead and do it on your tank, trust me you wont regret it.

yeh ull prob break 50 peices of glass before you actually suceed. go slow when drilling and alo remebe that thicker glass is easier. good luck on this project

... update?

I believe he sold the tank back in June and he hasn't been back on here since. :(

True, unfortunetly the 330g tank and the rays have gone. I still have the 120g with some nice cichlids and a delhezi in but that's all just now. Am still intending on getting more rays at some point and have kept the sump, fluidised beds, pumps, heaters, all the plumbing for the constant change system etc etc to use when the time comes. Thanks to all who gave me advice both on the tank and the rays in general. Will be back here for sure when I look to get into rays again.

Cheers,
N
