Severum Experiences??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Severums are great fish - - in my experience very peaceful and attractive. They also don't get too large (maybe 10" max, I've never had one that big), so they're great citizens in tanks that feature more assertive members. Highly recommended!

Mine is absolutly amazing looking......but all he does is sit in the little corner. I thought he would be a little more brave simce he is so big but I guess not. He is really a scardy cat though.

Well I love my golden sev so much I went and got 2 little green sevs to keep him company........and 4 XL silver dollars.....I never come away from the LFS without a little something extra!

I am new to Severums since i have only had mine a couple of months.. but i already love their look..somewhat like discus... what type is this one because he is my favorite and he has changed so much since i bought him ...and he is growing great..

I've kept Severums for awhile. Currently have a mated pair in a 55 with a pleco. Very nice fish. Get along with most (but not all) others. Smart and interactive, if a bit ditsy at times. Often act as the "cops" of the tank. Good parents, easy to feed.

I had a breeding pair of Turquoise Severums for about 3 years. They were kinda bad at having fry. Only about half of their egg batches got fertalized and protected well enough to become free swimming.

They were a sweet pair though. I felt terrible cause the lfd said they would sell them as a pair and then lied and sold the female off first. Then the male died. I hate myself for that one.
