Sexing channa aurantimaculta plz as fast as possible

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's a good start but much too bright and open for this species. More plants will help but . Auranti need a cave especially males and they also need floating cover .

Tankmates of any kind are a waste of time it never works . They'll
Kill most and if they can't kill it they'll become stressed. They are highly territorial.

Can u tell me how often shud i water chnge n how much ?
He hides in there because he's stressed.
You need to add floating plants as to diminish the impact of those BRIGHT lights. You also need to add a lot more plants. I find Vallisnerias look great in this kind of setup, and usually spread rather easily.

As for water changes, they are not very relevant. -IF- you keep the tank very well planted, it'll do most of the work in keeping the tank clean enough. I did a half yearly water change for my Aurantis because not only do they not need it, they also hate it with a passion. Another reason why you can't keep tank mates with them. ;)

Which also tells you that you shouldn't overfeed, since you're not likely to change water all that much.

Devon might have another view on water changes, I found 10% every month and my half yearly 70% worked fine either way. :)

I agree the fewer water changes the better .

I base my water changes and feeding on the seasons.

I do A large top up in the spring followed by a very large water change a week or 2 later . Over the summer ill top the tank up as needed and do one or 2 small water changes . As falls approaches I stop doing water changes altogether, I don't even do to ups during winter and by spring the tanks are only half full from evaporation , then when spring hits I start again.

this cycle isn't absolutely necessary but as a rule they do not like water changes/fluctuations in the water parameters . so as mentioned previously they'll do best with heavily planted setups and very few small water changes.
