Tillikum is easily recognized because his dorsal fin is completely flopped to his left side. He has 2 small black dots/lines in his left eye patch and on his right. Tillikum is the largest captive orca not only at the Sea World Florida but in the world with his 22 feet and his 12,000 pounds. He also has many scars across his chin.

Because of the incident in which Tillikum was involved with two other whales in which his trainer was killed in 1991 trainers at Sea World do not do any water work with him, water work with him would be hard anyway because of his size. yea, its' pretty clear that that method didn't work since someone was just killed by a whale that no one does water work with right?
Most of the time, Tillikum is alone is one of the pools of the Shamu Stadium. In the show, he makes jumps and he splashes with his tail the first fifteenth rows. After, he slides out for a beautiful picture. For whatever reason he was involved in a killing of his trainer no one knows but in 1999 a man was found dead in his pool, he was on Tillikum’s back when the Sea World’s staff saw him. Tillikum didn’t kill him; he probably died out of the cold water in the whale’s pool. Since then the trainers are even more careful when around Tillikum. That proves orcas are not some toys to be ridden they should be in the wild, WILD. Riiiiiiiiiiight,.......... like i said before, dont' forget to mention that the guy had teeth marks, bite marks and was bruised up. Last time i checked, hypothermia didn't have any teeth. if i was freezing in a pool, one thing that would keep me from getting out of the pool with the freezing water would be a giant mouth with hundreds of teeth

Tillikum has been captured in Iceland in November 1983 and was sent to the Sealand of Pacific in Victoria, British-Columbia, Canada where he would live with Haida 2 & Nootka 4 after Sea Land's male orca died just few months previously.

There the three shared their tiny pool for many years. Tillikum would often be closed at night in a small, metal, holding pool from which most of his scars are.

In 1991 three orcas, Tillikum, Nootka IV & Haida II were involved in a killing of their trainer.

On December 24th Tillikum becomes dad for the 1st time. Haida 2 gives birth to a male calf which is named Kayaquet. After the birth of Kayaquet, Tillikum was held at the small pool more often than usualy. He and Kayaquet never really met even because it was thought that Tillikum would harm him, even kill him by playing a bit too rough and because of the lack of space.

In March of 1992 Nootka IV gave birth to a male calf fathered by Tillikum which died only 33 days after.

After that Tillikum has fathered many more calves, in fact most of SW calves were fathered by him. Not all have survived though.

-Tillikum now lives at Sea World Florida, with 7 other whales, his two sons (Taku, Tuar & Tekoa), his daughter (Unna), and three other females: Katina, Kalina and Taima.
-His trainers do not do any water work with him
-He is the biggest captive orca in the world
-Kasatka a female held at SWC was artificualy impregnanted using Tillikum's sperm. This is the 1st time this has been successfully on an Orca, she gave birth to a male calf named Nakai. Her daughter Takara is belived to be impregnated the same way too, she gave birth to a baby girl name Makea..
-Katine gave birth in August of 2002 !

yea, that's what the chief trainer said. he said, her pony tail dangled in his face and he somehow reacted and pulled her in and she drowned. he said it as nicely as he possibly could. he wasn't even there when it happened i don't think

eye witnesses say, it grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in and thrashed her around violently.

yea but you where not there .. and eye witnesses see **** they dont actuality see all the time .. and eye witness is worth about as much as our opinion .. unless it was on video and we could see it again .. people will never know .. and as far as i can tell from the story .. it was not in the show pool .. it was in a back holding pool .. which means people would not have had a really good look .. but i have no idea since i was not there ..

but really i dont think it makes much of a difference ..

For whatever it's worth - releasing that animal is the DUMEST thing that they can do right now. Reintroduction doesn't work well at all when it comes to animals that are long term show trained animals.

Keeping a lot of the 'high end' marine mammals requires training/interaction to keep them mentally stimulated. Not working with them has been proven time and time again to shorten their lives and lead to health issues. They aren't like large bodied fish or sharks when it comes to display methods. So having them as 'display only' doesn't work either.

CNN, was talking to a member from PETA, and she said that they shouldnt kill it (which they are not going to, announced the sea world president) She said they should do what they did to the whale from free willy introduce it slowly so its able to catch fish on its own.
Her pony tail was dangling and teh whale grabbed it. As of now they are not letting any trainers go in to the water until they investigate , and shows continue as of tommrow

The whale from "Free Willy" was a great example of why not to release them. It didn't mix back well, followed people and created nothing but more problems.

I have yet to meet a person from PETA who had correct idea #1 about how animals in captivity work in comparison to wild animals.

Understood... I figured reintroducing it would be the last option, because of the free willy story. I figured they'd put it down like any other animal like that. But then again we're talking about a $2mil+ animal and marketing tool, not a pit-bull. :nilly:

Don't even get me started on the people from peta(they don't deserve capitalization)! Their a whole different bred of human... maybe a sub-species. :swear:

PETA annoys me as well... they don't know much, for example, the outcry they made about the docking of sheep's tails... the whole point of docking the sheep's tails was to save them from death by maggots..
