Female have the blue gills male have pointed fins and get bigger then 8".

His female,has more of a beard look with blue though,as in mine doesn't have that at all.Mine has the pointed fin and has blue.

My JD lives with big doviis and jags more than double his size for over a year without ever having its fins ripped or scales torn out. Quite the little survivor

IT all depends on the JD,some are too scared and such,mine already claimed two territories in the tank.

My JD. Continued to grow and is about 10" including tail. Gorgeous fish but wish he would show off more.

My JD is about 10" now but unfortunately likes to hide a lot. I have added tiger barbs and giant danios to help bring him out. He killed every othet larger type fish I had w him in a 4' 90G, such as nicaraguensis and silver dollars but he doesnt bother the tiger barbs. My best looking fish but not my favorite personality in a fish. Like my chocolate cichlid show tank the best.

hey jumping joe id love to see a pic of your choc show tank. I have one in with my O, he was quite timmid at fisrt but now he is always out and coloring up nicley.

jumpin joe wow!! great lookin jack! mine tends to hang out at the bottem some of the time but wen i walk in my room she comes flying out. i trained her to dance b4 i feed her too.... she dont have a territory either she goes where she please and if u wanna cross her, watch out. had her a year and prolly lost atleast 4 cichlids and a million schoolin fish. obviously i dont keep schools anymore haha

I have 2 that are about 4" in my 75 gallon. They kill absolutely everything I have had in with them and they do nothing but hide behind the rocks. They are so boring it is not even funny. I am planning on getting rid of them and trying out a native tank, I just need to go fishing first.

my guy show stoppa is pretty gutsy he's not afraid of people ! and even attacks the glass...I've had one other jack dempsey 20 years ago that was flat out a mean sob..and a beauty! rest in peace emcee. I currently have blue genes growing out and breeding a blue gene female with him.

Does that mean mine is a male or female,i.dont notice blue all over the face,only certain areas of the face and the body having the blue
