Im just cerious to learn a little more about the sheading of strings rays. I havnt seen him loose a stinger yet but his entire body sheads quite often. Can anyone fill me in on why they do this....

Never had any of my rays shed anything but their stingers. Nor have I heard of rays shedding...Pics?

Ye rays shed their stings every few months but i too havnt seen my pride and joy shed anything else!?

I think pics are in order.

what do you mean by shedding? if your ray is shedding its skin then i would check your water. a ray will drop its stinger 3-4 times a year as new ones grow through

x2, also could be electrical current in the water

Perhaps he is talking about its slime coat?

hmm, well its all gone now, it only take a day and hes been doing it every few weeks now for several months....i check the water levels every week, everything is fine. i think if there was some sort of electrical current i woud be getting a shcok everytime i touched the water, or it would be effecting the other fish as well.....?? really tho, it looks like a snake shedding its skin, it fill my entire tank with floating skin debre, next time he does it ill take some pictures for sure. this is my 3rd ray and have never seen this, i thought maybe something todo with this breed.....

What is in there for tank mates? You may not feel the electrical current if your not grounded as well as another path that the current is following.
