Shipment surprise

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The picture doesnt do it much justice. Im sure its not a jd, Im kinda leanin toward a texas myself after doing a bit of research. Never really planned on having one, now that i do i need to give him/her a setup.

They can be a bit aggressive once they hit about 5". But they can be kept with other large fish that will keep it in check. It looks like you have very large tanks so you should have no problems.

Carpintis = Texas

I had one (4") that relentlessly attacked every fish I owned, including my oscar who was about twice his size. I got rid of it shortly after realizing that it was not legal to own in my area.

Cyano and carpintes are different. Cyanos are most commonly known as the texas. As far as this one, I got with cyano until there are better pics

Understandable, and you are correct. Just looks awfully blueish to be a Cyanoguttatum.

we get texas in all the time with feeder shipments so I wouldn't be supprised if that's what it is.

It's not so much color as it is the size and pattern of scales that differentiate the cyano from the carpintes. Either way, thats a nice little free fish and hopefully the OP will have some pics up sooner!
