Shipping at Rapps

I don't think this guy is bashing anyone, if you're not familiar with shipping costs or you buy most of your fish from LFS's you will be in for a surprise once you start ordering on line but once you start there is no turning back. The quality is far better or at least I think thats the case here in Colorado. I question any fish that I find in my LFS's thats why I have stopped buying from them all together. I think for the most part the LFS's get the bottom of the barrel or fish of low quality.

What I do is I would buy enough to justify the shipping cost. For example, a baby tiger Mota is 5 bucks and an adult is 30 bucks. I would buy 6 baby Motas then when they grow up they will be 180 bucks total, which covered the shipping.

Or I would buy a baby big fish that will grow big enough to cover the cost when big. The Dorado I got from Jeff last year is probably worth around 150 in my area. Again, covered the shipping.

What are you getting from Jeff? If you're getting a few 1-2" fish then yes, I see cause for your concern.
I promise you this though, Jeff has much more to lose by overpricing his stock and shipping than he stands to gain. There are tons of guys just like you Kyel, who won't hesitate to broadcast any and all questions, concerns and dissatisfaction. That is a good thing!
Kyel, Jeff is perhaps THE most unanimously revered vendor on the forum (well maybe right after Snookin21) and he's known all over. I've heard great thing about him online and less than great things offline but if I want it, am willing to pay for it, and Jeff's the only guy who's got it (often the case), I'll order from TUIC. He has an enormous reputation and TUIC is a brand name in the hobby.

I totally agree driftwood. Like I said I talked to Jeff and he is a really nice guy I was just stunned at how much shipping is.

I hear you flowerpower. The fish that I want from him are about 5inches each. And he does have a good selection. This is just the first time I have gotten fish from online and was amazed at how much shipping is.

a bit of exaggeration here....IMO Shark Aquarium in NJ has better selection ( never seen either snook or jeff offering aimaras , leos, big rhoms or STs) plus the advantage of being a retail store where you can see the fish before you buy it. that being said, I feel comfortable ordering from any of these 3 vendors.

John has no problems sending people pics of the exact fish. After all, the only advantage to having a retail store is if the buyer lives in your area.

You're one of the first I've heard suggest that Nomad. The customer feedback I've seen tells a different story. SA is great none the less though!

probably you are referring to MFK feedback and that's because George is not as active on this forum as Jeff or John (snook) ....even after I moved to CO I still mainly bought fish from SA , shipping method being AP to AP with zero problems (shipping averaging around 50 $/ box)

Now I have bought from John. I have not bought from jeff. Although I definitly would by from jeff if his rates were better. He has wonderful stock. I am looking at a 5" bichir. He ships that anywhere in US for 32 dollars. How is there that much difference? all I know if jeffs shipping prices were good I would have his stuff in my tanks too.
