Cows hung upside down to bleed out.
Chickens living there entire lives unable to spread a wing.
Animals on so much steriods they cant even walk.
50% of cows are lame before reaching a slaugherhouse.
Pigs killed by a nail gun devise.
Dont bring up inhumanity and ethics if your ignorant to whats going on around you. I could send you a peta video that woud reduce any animal lover to tears.

Actually, I said shocking by western standards. I never said that any of this was shocking to me, personally. This isn't my first rodeo, most of what goes on within the tropical fish industry (both freshwater & marine) would probably shock most hobbyists.

The discussion was about FH, not PETA, and not all of the other atrocities that take place within the animal kingdom involving animals destined for human consumption, or otherwise.

Just saying, If you guys are gonna go all Peta on SE Asia breeders, Dont be so ignorant, Go Peta on something that actually matters, Something that happens around you everyday, That you probably contribute to.

60gal is about the absolute smallest size tank you want to keep a full grown FH in.

Its is different. Breeders are Breeders, And hobbyists are hobbyists. Comparing the 2 is apples to oranges. Plus the most of these fish arent put in these tanks there whole life, just until they are sold.
And for 1, I wasnt the first to bring up Peta. 2, People saying they dont want anything to do with these fish after seeing something like that, I dont support ignorance. People should know all factors before making a conscience decision. 3, You implying asian breeders pack as many fish as they can into a tank. Its a regular occurrence everywhere, No need to be subjective.

I agree with others saying the FH's have to little space to thrive, I also agree that we as Americans are very ignorant as a whole of other cultures and their inner workings. The same is true for food in this country. I have seen some awful things done to animals in the name of consumables and CHOOSE to buy food that is not only raised naturally and humanely, but also slaughtered the same way. It is a fickle subject for an animal lover to talk about their feelings towards their meat consumption and how they FEEL about the slaughter etc. I have been fortunate enough to find and study information and resources that lead my family and I to food that is raised naturally and treated right in their time on this earth. I find it sad that all people don't try and learn more about what they put in their body. If they did, they would see more of what Fishingout is referring to. If the fish are happy/fed/in clean water and look so good, who are we to change this man's culture. We may have opinions, but that is all they are.

I may get in trouble for saying all this, but this is the first time I have spoken about anything that is dear to my heart.

They do not protect aninmals. They protect interests that we do not know of.
